Weldon 869L:Great vintage knitting pattern ladies cardigan 1940s. This is another gem from the war years. Nice wide rib bands, deep welt, well shaped cardigan in a simple broken cable pattern. To fit 34-36 inch, 36-38 inch and 38-40 inch bust. Vintage 4ply is suggested to perhaps try modern 4ply in a tension square and see if you need to change needles or even use double knitting to get a better fit.

Weldon A913: Great vintage ladies angora bolero knitting pattern 1940s. There are instructions for long or short sleeves, can also be knitted in ordinary 4ply yarn. Angora from this era knitted as modern 4ply. The cuffs and rib bands are knitted in ordinary 4ply. Knitted  with raglan sleeves for nice tailored fit - very smart - would look nice as evening wear or wedding.

Weldons B917: Great vintage ladies diagonal line jumper knitting pattern. This unusual design is knitted in a fine modern 4ply merino or three ply always work a tension square. To fit 34-36 inch bust and has little Magyar sleeves. I love this one and I am going to make as an evening jumper in angora with a row of little pearl buttons along the diagonal edge.

Weldons A965: Great vintage ladies lace twinset knitting pattern from the 1940s. This is so pretty and is knitted in a cobweb yarn a bit of a challenge, but so light, cool and dainty. Although in very fine yarn it is knitted on size 8 imperial or modern 4mm needles. To fit 34-36 inch bust you could try a cobweb Shetland for this one or a very fine cotton. The tension is the key to this set and perhaps a few tension swatches will tell you the ply to use. The thicker the yarn that you use allow more yarn to knit with. For instance if you knit it in modern 3ply you will probably need half as much again. Knit a sleeve and weigh it then you will be able to work out how much yarn you will need in the chosen yarn.

This is lovely knitting pattern is described as a tailored cardigan-jumper ideal for wearing with a linen suit on the deck of a steamer. Sailing was extremely popular in the 1930s and it was essential to look your best on deck in the wind or sun. This one is suggested to be knitted in white with red reveres and buttons. 36 inch bust and knitted in 3ply, try modern 4ply, knitted on small size needles to make wind-proof.

WI-19L: Great vintage knitting pattern for ladies jumper from 1936. This boldly striped jumper is knitted in a fine 4ply in coronation colours - that's Edward V111, the King who abdicated in December of that year. Vertical stripes are slimming and pleasing to the eye. A woolly for high days and holidays (it actually says that in the pattern!) To fit a 32 bust, work in a thicker ply or bigger needles for a larger size. Red, white and blue again.
