Bestway 98L: Jumpers and Accessories in Knitting and Crochet: Great vintage knitting and crochet pattern 1940s. This booklet has 9 different patterns. There are the ones shown on the cover, plus a short sleeved jumper in petal stitch to fit 34 inch bust (the jumper and jacket on the cover are both 34 inch bust) crochet gloves, jumper to fit 32 inch bust, bed cape with rose medallion edging as well as the beret, jacket and collar and cuffs(shown on front cover). Bestway 116-Slipover: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for light weight slip over or sleeveless jumper. Nice deep rib, V neck, a back yoke and a tie at waist. So it is essentially a front. These were popular during the war for economy as well as coolness under a suit jacket (often worn at the time). To fit most sizes, make a bit wider if needed for a fuller figure. Knitted in a 3ply, so try a modern 4ply. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 141L: Great vintage ladies cardigan, hood, and trunks knitting pattern. This pattern is from the early 1940s with instructions for a button up jacket, hood in two different styles and winter knickers or trunks. Double knitting weight wool is required, but do knit a tension square to see if you need to change needles. The trunks are in 4ply, but again a tension square will tell you if modern double knitting might work better. To fit 34-36 inch bust and the trunks fit 36-40 hip, length adjustable.

Bestway 424: Great vintage ladies twin set knitting pattern from early 1940s. This pattern has instructions for the cardigan and the jumper. Knitted in a close fitting rib that is very flattering and slimming. Yoke gives a sun-ray effect, sleeves set in and slim fitting. To fit 34 inch bust  and try a modern 4ply in a tension square. This pretty set is shown by Miss Sally Gray an English actress from the 1930s and 1940s.

The jumper has an interesting cable design and a little turtle neck collar with short sleeves and deep rib. Knitted in modern 4ply should fit 36-38 inch chest, try a needle change for a smaller size. The slip over has a square neck and deep rib in a cable and should fit 32 inch chest. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 516: Great vintage knitting pattern for a bolero patten in simple stocking stitch from the eary 1940s. To fit 32" bust and has special instructions for beginners, because it is so simple in stitch and style it will be easy to add more stitches at seam edge and make a bigger size. Knitted in vintage 4ply, work tension square to see if modern 4ply will work or if a change of needles or even yarn will work better.

Bestway 523cr: Great vintage crochet pattern for two ladies jumpers early 1940. This pattern has two different designs, they are both CROCHET worked in modern 3ply wool or no 20 cotton, always do a tension square and change hook if needed to get the correct tension. The one on the left is in 'fillet lace' and measures 36" - 37" bust. The cuffs, collar and waistband are in ribbed knitting.  The one on the right is to fit 34 inch bust and is in 'crazy' stitch with knitted ribbed waist band and a little tassel at neck.

Bestway 536: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from early 1940s. This design is in a wide rib, smart and elegant with embroidery at neck. Modelled by Carla Lehmann. Includes a diagram for the embroidery. To fit 34 inch bust in modern 4ply, always work a tension square. Belt is made from embroidery wool to match the neck with purchased or home made leather clasp. Small shoulder pads can be used. Colour combinations are suggest in the pattern.

Bestway 546L: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern. This pattern is from the 1940s. There are instructions for long or short sleeves jumper in pretty twisted stitch which gives the appearance of cable with out the cable needle, to fit up to 34 inch bust. Vintage 3ply silky yarn is used, so try a modern 4ply pearl or similar to get a sheen or just ordinary 4ply in a tension square, change needles if needed to get the correct measurements, try a large needle for a large size, but allow a bit more wool if you do this.

Bestway554: Fabulous vintage knitting pattern for a ladies lacy bolero from 1940s. Great for that special occasion this summer! Knitted in vintage 3ply, try modern 4ply. To fit 34" bust, but easy to make larger by increase number of stitches, making an extra pattern or using larger needles or thicker wool. Remember to allow more wool if you are going to make it a bigger size.

Bestway 571: Great vintage ladies jumper in grape stitch from 1940s. This super pattern is a bit of a challenge, but easy once you see how they bobbles are grouped. The pattern suggests it was with a new stitch at that time! Knitted in vintage 2ply, so try modern 3ply and change needles if needed. To fit 33-34 inch bust. Lovely little buttons at the shoulders and shoulder pads can be added to give sculpture to the shoulders. Bestway576-Dixie: Great vintage knitting pattern form 1935. This pretty jumper with button detail on the waist band and placket is knitted in a 4ply yarn. Most vintage 3plys are the same as 4ply modern yarn or wool. Always work a tension square and allow an extra ball of wool.

Bestway 576-Daliah: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1935. This round neck jumper with interesting panels is to fit 35 inch bust and worked in a 4ply. Bit more difficult this one as far as stitch is concerned although easy styling with deep rib. These 1930 designs were not so figure hugging as the later 1940's models. The change in fashion was due mostly to the rationing of wool as is twas then needed to make service knitteds.

Bestway 576-Davina: Great vintage ladies easy to knit pattern for a jumper from 1935. This so easy to knit design worn with a belt to match buttons is so typical of the era. Stocking stitch and moss stitch make this a super project for a beginner. Always work a tension square. This should work well in a 4ply or fine double knitting. to fit 36 inch bust.

Bestway 576-Desiree: Great vintage knitting pattern for side fastening jumper coat from 1935. This unusual jumper buttons up the from above the rib and was commonly known as a jumper coat. This one has a tie at the neck and super big buttons. Ebay has many 1930's buttons for sale. The pattern is so simple, but looks so sophisticated and is knitted in a a double knitting to produce 6 stitches to an inch on 8 imperial or 4mm needles. Always work a tension square.

Carole Landis is the model in this little jumper with single rib variation, pretty gathered sleeves and deep rib at waist.
