There are the ones shown on the cover, plus a short sleeved jumper in petal stitch to fit 34 inch bust (the jumper and jacket on the cover are both 34 inch bust) crochet gloves, jumper to fit 32 inch bust, bed cape with rose medallion edging as well as the beret, jacket and collar and cuffs(shown on front cover). These were popular during the war for economy as well as coolness under a suit jacket (often worn at the time). To fit most sizes, make a bit wider if needed for a fuller figure. Knitted in a 3ply, so try a modern 4ply. Always work a tension square.

This pattern is from the early 1940s with instructions for a button up jacket, hood in two different styles and winter knickers or trunks. Double knitting weight wool is required, but do knit a tension square to see if you need to change needles. The trunks are in 4ply, but again a tension square will tell you if modern double knitting might work better. To fit 34-36 inch bust and the trunks fit 36-40 hip, length adjustable.

To fit 32" bust and has special instructions for beginners, because it is so simple in stitch and style it will be easy to add more stitches at seam edge and make a bigger size. Knitted in vintage 4ply, work tension square to see if modern 4ply will work or if a change of needles or even yarn will work better.

Bestway 523cr: Great vintage crochet pattern for two ladies jumpers early 1940. This pattern has two different designs, they are both CROCHET worked in modern 3ply wool or no 20 cotton, always do a tension square and change hook if needed to get the correct tension. The one on the left is in 'fillet lace' and measures 36" - 37" bust. The cuffs, collar and waistband are in ribbed knitting.  The one on the right is to fit 34 inch bust and is in 'crazy' stitch with knitted ribbed waist band and a little tassel at neck.

One has a lovely pattern that is created with a smocking stitch to pull the edges of the rib together, very easy to do and so different. A neat little tie at neck and small shoulder pads. Back and front are worked in similar manner. To fit 36 inch bust and is knitted in vintage 3ply, try modern 4ply, always work a tension square. The other one is also knitted in a modern 4ply, with a high neck and simple lines of a twist rib. To fit 32 inch bust, but as a rib it will expand to fit a 34 inch bust.

Vintage 3ply silky yarn is used, so try a modern 4ply pearl or similar to get a sheen or just ordinary 4ply in a tension square, change needles if needed to get the correct measurements, try a large needle for a large size, but allow a bit more wool if you do this.

Bestway 571: Great vintage ladies jumper in grape stitch from 1940s. This super pattern is a bit of a challenge, but easy once you see how they bobbles are grouped. The pattern suggests it was with a new stitch at that time! Knitted in vintage 2ply, so try modern 3ply and change needles if needed. To fit 33-34 inch bust. Lovely little buttons at the shoulders and shoulder pads can be added to give sculpture to the shoulders. The back page has some pictures of other designs that were available at the time, some of which are on my site.

Bestway 576-Daliah: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1935. This round neck jumper with interesting panels is to fit 35 inch bust and worked in a 4ply. Bit more difficult this one as far as stitch is concerned although easy styling with deep rib. These 1930 designs were not so figure hugging as the later 1940's models. The change in fashion was due mostly to the rationing of wool as is twas then needed to make service knitteds.

Bestway 576-Desiree: Great vintage knitting pattern for side fastening jumper coat from 1935. This unusual jumper buttons up the from above the rib and was commonly known as a jumper coat. This one has a tie at the neck and super big buttons. Ebay has many 1930's buttons for sale. The pattern is so simple, but looks so sophisticated and is knitted in a a double knitting to produce 6 stitches to an inch on 8 imperial or 4mm needles. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 576-Domonique: Great vintage jumper-coat knitting pattern from 1935. This one has instructions for a jumper with buttons up the front and ribbon tie at neck. The check design is flattering, knitted in vintage 3ply so should work well in modern 4ply, always work a tension square. To fit 34-35 inch bust. The jumper has a square neck and is also embroidered.

Bestway588: Great vintage ladies classic jumper knitting pattern from early 1940s. This one is being modelled by Ann Sheridan. Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply to fit 36 inch bust. The plain look can be enhanced by embroidery around the neck, wearing a belt or try a silk scarf at the neck. Lovely shape. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 591: Great classic short sleeved jumper knitting pattern with a difference from the early 1940s. Carole Landis is the model in this little jumper with single rib variation, pretty gathered sleeves and deep rib at waist. To fit 34 inch bust and can be knitted in modern 4ply, always work a tension square. Knitted in a silky yarn that is similar to a modern fine 4ply. Always work a tension square and change needles to get correct tension. If a larger size is needed use a larger needle size but do allow a bit more yarn. To fit 33-35 inch bust.

bestway ladies cardigan 1930s Bestway 598L: Great vintage ladies jumper cardigan knitting pattern 1940. This pattern is lovely, it is for what was called a jumper cardigan, with beautifully fitted shoulders and contrast collar and buttons. Knitted originally in a bouclet, it can be knitted in any 4ply, just work a tension square and change needles if needed to get the sizing. The design is call a broken cable-rib. To fit 33-35 inch bust.
