Bestway 1812L: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for jumper from 1940s. This lovely wartime design can be knitted with long or short sleeves. This jumper is knitted in vintage angora that usually knitted to a 4ply tension. There is a lot of vintage angora around on the internet or try putting a search in to Google. Always work a tension square and you can use modern merino 4ply instead. To fit 34 inch bust.

Bestway 1846L: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for jumper from 1940s. This lovely wartime design knitted with short sleeves and long line body. Beautifully shaped to fit 34-36 inch bust knitted in vintage 3ply, but try modern 4ply in a size smaller needle. Always work a tension square. Interesting design, might look nice with a belt at the waist.

Bestway 1868: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for jumper from 1940s. This lovely wartime design short sleeves, great for using up oddments of wool. Try modern 4ply in a tension square for this one. Any combination of colours that you have will work. To fit 34 inch bust. Drop stitch row makes this light and airy.

Bestway 1892: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1940s. This smart, fitted jumper is to match the cardigan Bestway 1893. To fit 34 inch bust knitted in a vintage 3ply that would be nearer modern 4ply - always work a tension square. Nice deep rib and fitted shoulder with 4 small buttons at the back of neck. Bestway A1929: Great vintage knitting pattern from the later 1940s. This little jumper is knitted in cross-stitch and has a tie neck which is optional, a small button can be put at the neck if preferred. Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and to fit bust 34".

Bestway 1947L: Great vintage knitting pattern for ladies fancy yoke jumper from 1940s. This one is also to fit 34 inch bust and is knitted in a 4ply. The original used a Rayon which would have a silky, slightly shiny look to it, but any 4ply should work. Always do a tension square. Three small pearl buttons close the back of the neck.

Bestway1990: Great vintage knitting pattern for a ladies summer sports cardigan 1940s. In what is refereed to quick knitting wool. imperial 4 and 7's used (6mm and 4.50mm) so try an Aran weight wool in a tensions square. There are  8st and 9 rows to a 2" square.

You can try modern fine 4ply similar to Patons super fine merino and change needle size if you find 3ply daunting. But what makes these beautiful patterns so elegant and smart is the finer wools used in the1940s. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 2043L: Fabulous 1940s vintage ladies knitting pattern for jumper jacket 1940s. This delightful little jacket-jumper is worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square as this might work better. To fit 32-34 inch bust sleeve edges have crochet as do the front button band - but this can be omitted or a picot edge worked instead if you don't crochet.

Bestway A2080: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for lacy jumper from late 1940s. This design has a small bow at neck, could be replaced with button or brooch. Boasts a longer length as being up to date fashionable. To fit 34 inch bust, always work a tension square and try a fine merino wool.

Bestway A2084: Great vintage ladies summer jumper from 1940s. This design is called bubble stitch and is worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in  a tension square. To fit 32-34 inch bust. This type of pattern makes the work elastic and springy so you get a super fit, nice deep welt sits on the waist. Very pretty and easy to knit.

Bestway A2088: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1940s. This smart, nicely fitted jumper with fancy stitch yoke is to fit 34-36 inch bust knitted in a fine 4ply. Always work a tension square. The yoke is knitted in a twist stitch and a double rib for the main part. The back has fastening with three small buttons. Shoulder pads are optional, but create the trim line.

Bestway 2129: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a fuller figure from 1940s. This lovely pattern can be knitted with long or short sleeves and is to fit a 42 inch bust. Nice deep rib and easy to knit lace pattern. Try a fine 4ply for this one. The 2ply suggested in this pattern was actually a 4ply, light wool. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 2127: Another very useful vintage knitting pattern from 1940s for a fancy ribbed cardigan in 4ply to fit 34 inch bust. Very easy pattern, but very effective. Knit in double knitting on bigger needles to achieve a bigger size, use tension square as a guide.

Bestway 2163: Great vintage ladies sleeveless pullover or tank top with fair isle yoke 1940s. To fit medium size which is usually 34-36 inch bust. There is a chart for the fair isle, nice deep welt, neat style. Colours suggested are natural, emerald, light navy,yellow, rust and sky blue. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed.

Bestway 2180: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern from 1940s. This neat set is to fit 36-38 inch bust knitted in vintage 3ply that to a modern fine 4ply. Always work a tension square. The jumper has interesting rib panels and super deep rib. Cardigan ins slim fitting and nicely shaped in stocking stitch, super button trim. always allow a little more yarn than suggested if you want to adjust size or work a pattern on the plain cardigan.

Bestway 2206: Great vintage ladies cable and lace jumper from 1940s. This design is interesting and unusual, but not difficult to work. Lovely button closure at shoulder and in two sizes. To fit 34-36 inch bust and 36-38 just by changing needle size. Always work a tension square and try a fine 4ply for this one, wool if possible as it will give a nice stretch and fit.

Bestway B2319:  Great vintage ladies knitting pattern. There are 4 designs, a cap sleeve, ribbed yoke, lace and cable, and lace panel, they also have different neck lines. Very useful pattern and all designs are easy to complete, to fit 34-36 inch bust. Suggests to use a nylon called Nylonese or 3ply wool. Try modern 3ply or 4ply in a tension square, if using 4ply chose a fine spin either wool or synthetic.

This little pattern has instructions for both the long line waistcoat with points and the cardigan with set in sleeves, also with points at the front. To fit 34 inch bust. Bestway B2678: Great vintage ladies jacket and cap knitting pattern form 1940s. This lovely loose fitting jacket and whimsical hat were quite typical of the decade. After so many years of austerity fashion became fun and frivolous. This stripe jacket fits 34-38 inch bust and is knitted in a double knitting wool, another new wonder of the early 1950s. Always work a tension square. 4ply can also be used as the tension falls between a modern double knitting and a modern 4ply. change needles to get correct tension.

Bestway A2576: Great vintage ladies and teenagers cardigan with short sleeves knitting pattern from 1940s. This pretty little bolero style cardigan look so pretty over summer dresses. This is a super pattern with multiple size ranging from chest/bust to fit 28-30, 31-33, 34-36 inches. There are instructions also for long sleeves and for toddlers and baby sizes too. (From 19-27 inch chest) Try modern fine 4ply for this one and adjust needle size if needed.
