If you knit in modern 4ply it will probably knit up to a size 36" but try a tension square first and change needles if necessary. This is not actually fair isle but the embroidered flowers and stripes give the impression and is so easy to work.

Patons 345L: Great vintage knitting pattern for sleeveless top with square neck from the 1920s. There are also instructions for a v neck sleeveless jumper as well included both to fit 34-35inch bust. Worked in a wool called Lorna - not sure of the ply but knitted on 10s (3.25) for rib and 6s 5mm for main part. Tension is 5.5 stitches to the inch with the larger needles over stocking stitch if this helps. As the fabric appears quite drapey then may be in modern 4ply - try this in a tension square or modern double knitting.

Always work a tension square. The back is a rib with one cable down the centre. Lovely fit. Zip on left shoulder, or poppers or buttons can be used.

This design is to fit 34-36 inch bust and is knitted in a vintage 2ply that should knit well in a modern 3ply. Always work a tension square. This design has a double collar. Lovely fit. Patons 683: Sweet little vintage knitting pattern for ladies summer jumper worked in vintage 2ply (modern 3ply) to fit 34 inch bust - great for those summer weekend re enactment parties. Sleeves can be made shorter to be more flattering and still keep in era - my mother said they often made shorter sleeves as the wool was so scarce and often unpicked from last years jumpers - or from a big sisters! When she was in the WRAF during the 1940's she and her friends would unpick jumpers, cardigans etc and swap the wool and make different garments - sometimes to mix and match they made fair isles with patterns from different sources, just to be different!

Patons 719L: The great wartime classic - twin set, simple and easy to knit and great to wear with anything for any occasion. Any design could be knitted into this simple pattern. This one is for vintage 3ply, so modern 4ply would work well, but work a tension square first to see if you need to adjust needles size. If you knit a patter, such as basket stitch, cables etc allow more wool.  To fit 35-37 inches. This is a small wartime leaflet. There are interesting adverts for other patterns in the Patons range at that time.
