The bottle bag will cover average rubber hot water bottle and the slippers will fit average fit. Bestway 1047: Great vintage pattern for two pairs of bedroom slippers from 1940s. Loop top boots and slipper sock style both knitted in oddments of modern 4ply. The lace boots have string soles that are crocheted. The slipper sock style also have a crochet sole. It is easy to make either bigger or smaller in size by casting on more or less stitches. Bestway 1172: Great vintage ladies bedroom slippers knitting pattern from 1940s. Both the men's and ladies are knitted in vintage 4ply, so try modern double knitting for these. This is a good pattern as it explains really well how to make the soles from crochet and how to fix them with lining. As they are for indoors cardboard covered with felt both sides and with a bit of wadding between the layers will also work. To fit which ever size sole you have or decide to make.

This superb little pattern explains that these are very popular with prisoners of war when worked in larger sizes - what a fabulous idea! Worked in two strands of double knitting wool, the pattern explains how to make larger or smaller sizes very easily. The rainbow house shoes are very cosy and have a choice of soles - you can make them of felt or covered card or insoles (rough side outward so that they don't slip.)

Weldons 537: Vintage CROCHET patten for sandals 1930/40's. Fabulous shoes made for the summer, it suggests using thick insoles as a sole,which is easily replaceable as it wears. There are instructions for making the wedge from cork, cardboard! or wood. The benefit from these shoes are that they will fit as you make the to match your own foot and arch shape. My mother made a pair for herself one summer in 1940 out of fine string and cork inner soles, a bit of glue and a lot of luck - they lasted the summer and she replaced the soles the following year.
