Almafleur 232: Super vintage knitting pattern for hats and bootees in angora. This leaflet has instructions for the pretty little kitten hood in white (bunny bonnet), the beret and the blue pixie with bootees and mittens to match them all. They are all knitted in 4ply angora blend or pure angora. Can be knitted in 4ply wool or yarn. Always work a tension square. No size given, will let you know when I have knitted one of the sets!

Angora Bonnets 106: Great vintage baby bonnet knitting pattern from 1920's or earlier. The top one is knitted and the bottom Dutch bonnet is crocheted, but in bunny wool or angora. The yarn used would have been a fine version, so a 3 or 4ply rather than the thicker one more popular today. See internet for suppliers of Angora. Always work a tension square.

Angora 176: Great vintage angora knitting pattern for babies hats and bonnets. This super pattern has instructions for 6 different designs, beret, hood, bonnet, cap, helmet and cap. Try modern double knitting or 4ply angora depending on size required.

Bairnswear 164: Fabulous vintage bonnet knitting pattern 1930s. This is a lovely pattern from the late 1930s which carried on into the 1940s. There are 6 different sets, one with shoes rather than bootees. Measurement round face from 12" - 14". Some in vintage 3ply and a couple in vintage 2ply. Work tension square and change needles if needed. As usual vintage 3ply is nearer modern 4ply and vintage 2ply will be the same as modern 3ply. See below for the individual patterns.

This little set is worked in angora, but can be also knitted in any modern 4ply, this is so simple and looks sweet in fluffy wool or plain 4ply, you could alternate the ridges with different colours or bands of angora.

This sweet little bonnet is in a rouched pattern, that gives it that special retro look and the little bootees will go with any outfit as they are simple style. This little set is worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply.

Bettina is a very easy design in garter stitch (plain knitting) and a simple hole design for brim and bootee cuff. To fit round 13.5 inches in vintage 3ply, so for a smaller size work in modern 3ply.

This quaint little set is so retro and look fabulous on, suitable for boy or girl. Worked in vintage 2ply or modern 3ply to fit 13 inches round face. You can knit the ridges in a contrast colour or maybe angora to give that touch of luxury, bootees have tops to match.

Note the long tops on these, so popular in at the time, to keep little legs warm. Round brim 13 inches knitted in baby Shetland 3ply, so for same size try modern 4ply, smaller size work in modern 3ply - tiny new born try 2ply - very dainty.

Bairnswear 1266: Great vintage baby fair isle beret knitting pattern 1940s. This pattern has instructions for three different designs all knitted on 4 needles or a circular needle in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply. This one on the cover is called Peony, there is also one called Peacock and Jay. Headband 19 inches.

There are two fair isle bonnets to fir 1-2 years and the one on the cover that is to fit 2-3 years plus a little boys peaked helmet. Bairnswear 1389: Super vintage knitting pattern for golly intarsia hat and scarf set 1940s. This adorable pattern is so retro with golly motifs on the scarf, mittens and hat with long point and tassel - super Christmas gift this one. Also a fancy rib set with pull on hat. To fit 2-3 years old worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply. Try modern 3ply for smaller size or double knitting for larger size - but if you do this allow at least twice as much yarn.

Bestway 1331: Great vintage baby slipper knitting pattern from 1940s. A lovely pattern from the early war years for money saving slippers and shoes for little one. Crochet in double knitting yarn or 3ply doubled. The sole can be made from an old pair of cloth shoes or from soft leather lined with silk or cotton, or canvas. To fit around 2 years. Bestway 1844: Great vintage knitting pattern for babies bootees and mittens 1930s and 1940s. This little pattern was in print for along time, this one is from the 40's wartime. Easy to knit and cosy for that retro look this winter. So much neater and warmer than socks. one set of mittens has a thumb.  One set is knitted on two (top set) needles and the other is knitted on 4 needles or you can try a circular needle. ( easier than it sounds). Both worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 3ply for slightly smaller fit or modern 4ply for size.

Bestway 1989: Great vintage baby bonnets and helmets knitting pattern 1940s. This little pattern was also available during the war years. The little bonnets and hats were knitted in scraps of vintage 3ply. There instructions for the two pixie helmets in two sizes to fit 9-18 months and 18 months -2years. There are also instructions for the pretty frilled bonnet to fit 3-12 months and 1-2 years. Always work a tension square. Very useful pattern for those who like the retro look.

They make a super birth gift, or baby shower gift. There is also a matinee coat in this pattern. The bootees and coat are knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square for the size or use modern 3ply for a smaller size. For prem baby use modern 2ply. Bestway 2169. Great vintage baby kitten hood knitting pattern 1940s. Another stunning little bonnet so typical of the 20's and 30's and into the 40s. 6 months to 3 years sizes in this pattern knitted in angora or 3ply baby wool. There is also one with a fair Isle border for the older child 2-3 years.  The angora one takes 2 x balls of Fuzzy Wuzzy (1/2 oz balls) or 1 x ball of angora (20gms)

A2438: Great vintage knitting pattern for baby bootees 1940s. This is one of my favourite, they all knit up beautifully. There are three styles knitted and two styles crocheted. All in vintage 3ply, so try a tension square and modern 4ply or use modern 3ply for a smaller size. They measure between 2.5 inches and 4 inches along sole. Bestway 2705. Here we have a stunning vintage knitting pattern for bonnets with a really retro look! 1940s. This pattern is in super condition and the bonnets will fit 12 to 24 months in 3ply. If knitted in pure new 3ply wool they will come up a little smaller and fit from 6 months (depending on babies head size!)  I have knitted them in 2ply modern pure new wool and they fitted a new born. This pattern was reissued several times in 1950's - you can see why it was so popular - fabulous pattern.

Copleys 3066: Great vintage baby bonnet knitting pattern from 1940s. There are 6 different designs in this fabulous retro pattern. They are knitted in vintage 2 and 3ply or modern 3 and 4ply. Always work a tension square. To fit birth to 6 months.

Cashmere Wools W30: Great vintage knitting pattern for really retro bootees and slippers from around 1915-1920's. There are instructions for all those shown, slippers, bootees and a pair of simple mittens. all knitted in a 3ply cashmere - now available again on the internet! I have knitted a couple of these, they knit up well and look super in pale pink, pale blue or cream. There are instructions for 1st ad 2nd sizes. This is one of my favourite patterns - there are lovely pictures on the back of other patterns available at that time, too.

Edwardian Bonnet-1: Great vintage knitting pattern for little bonnet from around 1915.  Knitted in a silk thread on very fine needles - well worth the effort. Try cotton, silk, linen thread of 50count. This one has a simple shell border round brim, but I made it with silk and put an angora trim round the edge, for a Christening. It is knitted on 4 needles size 17 imperial.

Edwardian Bonnet-2: Great vintage knitting pattern for little bonnet from around 1915.  Knitted in a silk thread on very fine needles - well worth the effort. Try cotton, silk, linen thread of 50count. This one has a crochet border round brim, but I made it with silk and put swans-down round the edge. It is knitted on 4 needles size 17 imperial.

Furida 307:  Fabulous baby bonnet knitting pattern from 1920s. This pattern has two designs and should fit 14 inches from ear to ear over top of head. Knitted in a 4ply angora on 4mm needles. You can line the angora bonnet with silk or cotton using finished knitting as a pattern or knit in modern 4ply wool on a size smaller needles. The wide border of the one on the left has embroidered rose buds - illustration included. There is also a striped beret for an older child included in this one. Worked in stocking stitch and garter stitch.

Greenock 65 Scotch wool: Lovely very vintage pattern for angora hats for baby 1920s. I love these patterns, this one is from my collection of over 500 from this period - they will eventually appear on site!  This little range of fluffy bonnets is so sweet. I have several made in the 30's in my collection of vintage baby clothes - they are so sweet. They can also be made in modern 4ply yarn. Always work a tension square, although there is not a tension measurement given, you can see the sizes and can work out if you need to change needles to get that size. The smaller size is 14 inches round the face unstretched the older style is 15 inches. Make in 3ply for tiny baby sizes

This pattern from just before the war has instructions for a pair of little embroidered slippers - you can always just sew a bow on if you don’t embroider. and two other set in lacy design. Michael's Crochet Hat-1: Great little boys CROCHET hat pattern from early 1920s. Worked in a 4ply wool makes this a sturdy little hat to fit 20 inches round head for a toddler. Great for themed weddings, TV and films. Authentic pattern. Right: This little toddler's hat is knitted in bunny wool or angora and is turned up at the brim one side for that great '20's look. Angora can be purchased from Orkney angora on line, lots of colours and beautiful wool. also rilled bonnet to fit 6-9 months and baby bonnet to fit 3-6 months. Plus pixie h ood for 9-12 months. All 4 designs included.

Patons 985: Great vintage knitting pattern for baby and children's pixie hoods 1940s. This lovely little pattern was first issued in the 1920s and spanned the decades into the 1950s it was so popular. There are instructions for knitting 4 different designs left top is a girls round front of hood is 15 inches, top right is for a lady and measures 17 inches round front, bottom left is the baby one and measures 11 inches round front and the lower right is for a young girl and measures 13.5 inches round front.  To work in vintage 3ply so try a tension square and change needles if needed, but o get the correct size try using modern 4ply as this was similar to vintage 3ply. To make smaller use modern 3ply and smaller needle size.

Patons 2584: Great vintage knitting pattern for pixie hoods from 1930s. There are instructions for one to fit an adult, a child and a baby. The baby one is in angora and shown at the bottom right. All in 4ply. Always work a tension square.
