Almafleur 232: Super vintage knitting pattern for hats and bootees in angora. This leaflet has instructions for the pretty little kitten hood in white (bunny bonnet), the beret and the blue pixie with bootees and mittens to match them all. They are all knitted in 4ply angora blend or pure angora. Can be knitted in 4ply wool or yarn. Always work a tension square. No size given, will let you know when I have knitted one of the sets!

Angora Bonnets 106: Great vintage baby bonnet knitting pattern from 1920's or earlier. The top one is knitted and the bottom Dutch bonnet is crocheted, but in bunny wool or angora. The yarn used would have been a fine version, so a 3 or 4ply rather than the thicker one more popular today. See internet for suppliers of Angora. Always work a tension square.

Bairnswear 164: Fabulous vintage bonnet knitting pattern 1930s. This is a lovely pattern from the late 1930s which carried on into the 1940s. There are 6 different sets, one with shoes rather than bootees. Measurement round face from 12" - 14". Some in vintage 3ply and a couple in vintage 2ply. Work tension square and change needles if needed. As usual vintage 3ply is nearer modern 4ply and vintage 2ply will be the same as modern 3ply. See below for the individual patterns.

This little set is worked in angora, but can be also knitted in any modern 4ply, this is so simple and looks sweet in fluffy wool or plain 4ply, you could alternate the ridges with different colours or bands of angora.

This sweet little bonnet is in a rouched pattern, that gives it that special retro look and the little bootees will go with any outfit as they are simple style. This little set is worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply.

Bettina is a very easy design in garter stitch (plain knitting) and a simple hole design for brim and bootee cuff. To fit round 13.5 inches in vintage 3ply, so for a smaller size work in modern 3ply.

There are two fair isle bonnets to fir 1-2 years and the one on the cover that is to fit 2-3 years plus a little boys peaked helmet. This lovely pattern is from the late 1930s and has instructions for 3 different styles little wheel sided bonnet with cable detail to fit 13 inches round face, tassel French cap to fit 14 inches round face and the bonnet with brim to fit 14 round face. Try modern double knitting for these little beauties in a tension square and change needles or ply if needed.

Baby bonnet knitting pattern vintage from 1920s Beryl 458 Bonnet: Great vintage knitting pattern for bonnet from 1910. This is a really early pattern and typical of the time and although looks easy it is rather complicated pattern. A nice challenge for an experienced knitter. Can be worked in a 4ply wool or silk thread the correct thickness. worked on size 11 needles (3mm). An interesting project.

Easy to knit and cosy for that retro look this winter. So much neater and warmer than socks. one set of mittens has a thumb.  One set is knitted on two (top set) needles and the other is knitted on 4 needles or you can try a circular needle. ( easier than it sounds). Both worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 3ply for slightly smaller fit or modern 4ply for size.

Bestway 2705. Here we have a stunning vintage knitting pattern for bonnets with a really retro look! 1940s. This pattern is in super condition and the bonnets will fit 12 to 24 months in 3ply. If knitted in pure new 3ply wool they will come up a little smaller and fit from 6 months (depending on babies head size!)  I have knitted them in 2ply modern pure new wool and they fitted a new born. This pattern was reissued several times in 1950's - you can see why it was so popular - fabulous pattern.

Furida 307:  Fabulous baby bonnet knitting pattern from 1920s. This pattern has two designs and should fit 14 inches from ear to ear over top of head. Knitted in a 4ply angora on 4mm needles. You can line the angora bonnet with silk or cotton using finished knitting as a pattern or knit in modern 4ply wool on a size smaller needles. The wide border of the one on the left has embroidered rose buds - illustration included. There is also a striped beret for an older child included in this one. Worked in stocking stitch and garter stitch.

Greenock 65 Scotch wool: Lovely very vintage pattern for angora hats for baby 1920s. I love these patterns, this one is from my collection of over 500 from this period - they will eventually appear on site!  This little range of fluffy bonnets is so sweet. I have several made in the 30's in my collection of vintage baby clothes - they are so sweet. They can also be made in modern 4ply yarn. Always work a tension square, although there is not a tension measurement given, you can see the sizes and can work out if you need to change needles to get that size. The smaller size is 14 inches round the face unstretched the older style is 15 inches. Make in 3ply for tiny baby sizes

This pattern from just before the war has instructions for a pair of little embroidered slippers - you can always just sew a bow on if you don’t embroider. and two other set in lacy design. Patons 985: Great vintage knitting pattern for baby and children's pixie hoods 1940s. This lovely little pattern was first issued in the 1920s and spanned the decades into the 1950s it was so popular. There are instructions for knitting 4 different designs left top is a girls round front of hood is 15 inches, top right is for a lady and measures 17 inches round front, bottom left is the baby one and measures 11 inches round front and the lower right is for a young girl and measures 13.5 inches round front.  To work in vintage 3ply so try a tension square and change needles if needed, but o get the correct size try using modern 4ply as this was similar to vintage 3ply. To make smaller use modern 3ply and smaller needle size.
