Bairnswear 67: Great vintage knitting pattern for children's socks 1930s. This is a super pattern for easy to knit socks to fit children 1-5 years, knitted on 4 needles. Vintage 2 and 3 ply were used in this pattern, so try a tension square and use modern 3 and 4py or the cotton that is similar in ply (I think 3ply is similar to 20 cotton) Stocking stitch, the staples of all children's wardrobes in the 1920, 30's and 40's even in to the 1950s hand knitted socks were worn by children. My girls were born in the 1960s and I knitted their little cotton socks right up to 8 years old!

Bairnswear 166: Great vintage boys long socks knitting pattern from 1930s. This pattern has instructions for a long pair of socks or stockings with fair isle, patterns and fancy rib tops. To fit 5-6 years 7 inch foot, 6-7 years 7.5 inch foot, 7-8 years 8 inch foot and 8-9 years 8.5 foot. All foot measurements can be adjusted to fit. Vintage 3ply was used, so try modern fine merino 4ply in a tension square, all worked on 4 needles size 13 or 2.25mm (fine needles gave a smooth strong fabric) Great for re-enactment weekends, stage and film - be authentic.

Bairnswear 1214: Vintage knitting patten children's socks 1940s. 1 year to 9 years on 2 needles in vintage 2ply which is similar to modern 3ply. Tension is 9.5 stitches to the inch on no 13 needles, (2.25mm) for the larger sizes vintage 3ply is used or modern 4ply, still on 13 needles where tension is 9 stitches to the inch. These are simple to knit, patterns can be added to the turnovers if wanted.1940's

Bairnswear 1234: Vintage knitting pattern children's socks 1940s. Another very useful sock pattern, this time knitted on 4 needles, don't let this worry you, it is very easy to do and very quick, once you have tried it you will only want to knit socks this way. These little kiddies socks are to fit 3 to 7 years and are knitted in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply with oddment for tops. There are 4 designs as shown on the cover.

Bairnswear 1343: Great vintage child's sock knitting pattern from late 1930s. There are sizes to fit 1-12 years and are knitted in a open work stitch on 4 needles. 10 sizes. Knitted in 3ply. Wool, silk, cotton, rayon could all be used, just work to tension.

This pattern is from the late 1930s early 1940s and is a super pattern not only are they knitted in 2 needles there are 11 sizes to choose from! To fit 1-11 years. Knitted in either 2ply or 3ply vintage yarn, so try modern 3ply and 4ply or similar ply in cotton. They are knitted in small needles to give a nice fit. These are very easy to knit and worth a try for the little ones.
