Bestway 1310: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern from 1940s. There are instructions for a short sleeve jumper in a version of the popular feather stitch from wartime Britain. To fit 32-34 inch bust knitted in a vintage 3ply that would work well as a modern 4ply, but always work a tension square. This one has small shoulder pads in if you would like to use them, neat round neck and deep rib with buttons or press studs at shoulder.

Bestway 1311: Great vintage ladies shirt style jumper knitting pattern form 1940s. This super pattern is to fit 33-35 and 35-37 inch bust and is knitted in vintage 3ply. Always work a tension square, this design is worked in basket stitch and has a tailored fit.

Bestway 1313L: Vintage knitting pattern for ladies bubble jumper from the 1940's - my mother had one of these, it was all the rage in mid 1940s and she would wear it to a dance with wide legged slack that fitted closely at the top. It would also look great with a pencil skirt. To fit 30-34 inch bust.

To fit35-36 inch bust knitted in a vintage 3ply that would work well with a modern 4ply, but always work a tension square. This one has a lovely lace panel front, shoulders and along sleeve with a square neck.

Bestway 1316: Lovely vintage knitting pattern for ladies short or long sleeved cardigan, very trendy today as it was in the 19 40's. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square. It is for a 33 inch bust but use large needles for large size, but you will require a little more wool.

To fit bust 33-35 inches worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and a tension square. if you would like it bit larger use lager size needles but allow a little more yarn in this case. Stunning with or without embroidery.

Bestway 1321: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1940s. This pretty design has long or short sleeves and a nice deep rib. Sits on waist so is very fashionable. Set in sleeves with small pleats at top. Worked in a vintage 3ply that should knit well to a modern 4ply to make a 30-32 inch bust. If larger size is needed then try using 4ply and a larger needle - do allow more wool if you do this. Work a tension square in the 4ply to see if you will get the correct size on needles chosen.

Bestway 1324:Very pretty vintage knitting pattern from 1940s, for short sleeved jumper knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square. Easy and quick to knit, great for that retro look this summer and autumn. To fit 33" bust but try a size larger needle and you will get a 34" bust.

Bestway 1326: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for jumper from 1940s. This smart little jumper has n interesting finish at the neckline and cuffs, supper deep rib and should fit 32-35 inch bust. Knitted in vintage 3ply work a tension square in a modern 3ply for size stated. (see internet for modern adult colours for 3ply) If you use a modern fine 4ply the jumper will be slightly larger and you will  need several more balls of wool.

Bestway 1329: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern 1940s. Short or long sleeved jumper with collar. knitted in 3ply to fit 32-34 inch bust. Try using 4ply or double knitting to create a larger size. Adjust needle size and work a tension square in chosen wool, work out how many stitches to the inch then multiply these to fit your bust measurements.  Pattern has a rib body so allow for slight stretching of fabric once knitted. Pattern is in great condition with wool shop stamp to front

Bestway 1332:   Great vintage ladies jumper cardigan knitting pattern 1940s. A lovely lacy cardigan knitted in 2ply (try modern 3ply as equivalent, make tension square to test for size) This design is to fit 34" bust. Cardigans that buttoned to the neck were often called jumper cardigans or jacket as they could be worn as jumpers or cardigans.

Bestway 1337: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1940s. This short sleeved jumper with a patterned yoke is to fit 34 inch bust and knitted in vintage 3ply that should knit up well in modern 4ply, try a fine merino. The original colours were grey with cherry. The pattern looks like fly stitch and can be very striking if the right combinations of colours is used. Back fastening with three small buttons. Always work a tension square.

Bestway 1341L: Great vintage knitting pattern from the early 1940s for fan patterned jumper with little collar. This one is worked in vintage 2ply, so use vintage modern 3ply - for modern colours particularly in merino wool which suits these patterns well try Adriafil in Google or on ebay to find a lot of lovely vintage colours in 3ply and 4ply pure wool. Knit in 4ply for  larger size, but allow extra wool if you do this. To fit 35 inch bust. This one has pretty crochet buttons

Bestway 1349L: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1940s. These little patterns were so popular during the war years. Short sleeves and slim lines. This one has a change in pattern to create a slim, shapely look with mock cables and rib. The little tie at the neck was also popular as buttons, hooks and eyes, zips and clasp were difficult to get hold of and usually had to be borrowed from other clothing. To fit 34-36 inch bust. There is no tension given but try modern 4ply in a tension square and see if the needles stated will give the size you need.

Knitted in vintage 4ply so try tension square in double knitting to see if this works better. 33 inch bust, but use larger needles and get a bigger size, just  remember that you will need more wool.

Bestway 1389L: Great vintage wartime ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1940s. This neat little long sleeved jumper is to fit 33-35 inch bust and is tailored and smart. Original colour chosen was lemon yellow to go with brown tweeds or black slacks or skirt and it was suggested to wear a little scarf at the neck or tuck in a little peter pan collar to ring the changes. The Christmas tree design also give many options for this super winter jumper. Use modern fine 4ply merino and always work a tension square.

This early 1940s little jumper with yoke and sleeves in blackberry stitch and adorned with tiny bows is to fit 34 inch bust. The wide rib making it easy to wear and nicely fitting.  Try modern fine merino in 4ply. Always work a tension square. So easy to knit this one. Small shoulder pads can be added if liked.

This one has a neat box pleated skirt and smooth nicely fitted bodice. Knitted in vintage 3ply  so try modern 4ply. Easy to knit and beautiful to wear. From shoulder to hem 41 inches but you can adjust this.

Bestway 1440:  really retro vintage knitting pattern from the 1940's to fit 34" bust with unusual Aran panels. Knitted in 3ply will easily convert modern 4ply to give a slightly larger size, work tension square.

Bestway 1449: Vintage knitting pattern for ladies sort sleeved jumper knitted in cotton, to fit Bust 34". The pattern asks for Mercer Cotton no 2. Work a tension square in the cotton or wool chosen and see if you need to change needles to get the size desired. The needle size quoted is 13 and 12 (2.25mm and 3mm) If you would like to knit it in wool, then try modern 4ply in tension square.

Bestway 1628: Although this is for teenage school girls I have included here as it can be knitted in 4ply or double knitting and made larger.  Ideal for the coming Tennis season. The measurements states 28" stretching to 33" bust knitted in 3ply on size 12 (imperial) so if you used 4ply and size 10 would be a couple of inches larger and again in double knitting on needles 8 (imperial) it would be bigger still. This little top is knitted on 4 needles, so you could try knitting it on a circular needle. Always add a few extra balls if making larger.

To fit 36 inch bust but if a larger size needle is used then will fit a 38-40. Always work a tension square ( allow a little more yarn if you are making the larger size).

Bestway 1702L: Lovely lacy ladies jumper vintage knitting pattern from the 1940s. This one is in art silk or rayon yarn, but can be knitted in modern 4ply, or silk or cotton similar in ply - always work a tension square, this will help you decide which ply you are working with as well if you are not sure. This pattern tells you that by using a larger size needle you get a larger size. For 35 inch bust, but by changing to larger needles you can get a 37 inch bust or 39 inch bust from the same pattern. The yarn quoted is for the large size so should work for the other sizes too. Nice easy design.

Bestway 1717: Great vintage ladies summer jumper knitting pattern from early 1940s. This unusual pattern in rucked or gauged design is to fit 36 inch bust, knitted in a fine yarn that would be similar to a modern 3ply. Always work a tension square. Knitted in fine needles it produces a delicate, professional looking jumper with an interesting pattern, small pearl buttons at the shoulders and cap sleeves. Well worth the effort.
