Greenock L4: Great vintage ladies collared jumper knitting pattern from 1930s. This super design is to fit 32-34 inch bust, knitted in a vintage 3ply that is similar to modern 3ply - always work a tension square. The rib design allows some give in the size. For a bigger size try modern 4ply, but allow a couple of extra balls of wool if you do this.

Greenock 22L: Great vintage ladies long line cardigan with belt knitting pattern from 1920s. This super pattern is to fit 36 inch bust and is refereed to as a sports cardigan as shown in the picture. Don't be put off by the title of a girl's cardigan, it is a ladies fit. Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try a tension square, the tension shows it may well have been a double knitting ply -so make on square in modern 4ply and another in a double knitting to see which works better.

Greenock O23: Great vintage ladies summer jumper knitting pattern from 1930s. This design is so smart with clusters of little bobbles, like cherries. To fit up to a 34 inch bust. Knitted in a 3ply, so try modern 4ply for a larger size, but always work tension square. Button crochet covers are included in case you would like to make matching buttons for closure at neck, if not nice matching or even contrast shank button would look nice.

Greenock F31: Great vintage 1930s knitting pattern for ladies jumper. This one is to fit 37 inches and is knitted in a vintage 3ply that was similar to modern 4ply or even a double knitting if not to thick. Always work a tension square - try modern 4ply for a 36 inch bust and double knitting for a 38 inch bust. There is a neat little collar and colour suggest are grey with coral trim, nice deep rib and gentle shaping.

Greenock L61: Great vintage ladies lace cardigan knitting pattern form 1930s. This design has a deep V neck and a deep welt - very flattering, nicely fitted. Knitted in vintage 2ply so will knit up in modern 3ply, but always work a tension square. If you use a modern 4ply allow more yarn and the cardigan might come up a bit bigger. The pattern says to fit 35 inch bust. The stitch is call shamrock pattern. Elegant, fine and very smart.

Greenock 133: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern from late 1930s. This one has instructions for a cardigan in thicker wool - they call it double knitting but in fact it is similar to modern 4ply so always work a tension square. Knitted on larger needles. Notice the one large button at waist to fasten. To fit 34 inch bust. This one might take a bit of working out with tension squares, but is well worth it - try modern double knitting and modern 4ply and see which knits up better.

Greenock B223: Great vintage knitting pattern for short evening cape from 1930s. This pattern has two capes both are so easy to make and so neat, with little double button fastening at front. Super shape to shoulders, the one on the front is in ribbing and there is another one inside in garter stitch with little stand up collar, beautifully shaped. Both are knitted in double knitting. Always work a tension square. You could make either of them in double knitting angora.

Greenock B349: Great vintage ladies cape and bolero knitting pattern form the 1940s. This pattern is for two iconic garments from the 1930s and 1940s - the cape and bolero. These are knitted then brushed, but they could be knitted in a ready brushed yarn or angora. Always work a tension square and knit in double knitting or even an Aran weight, to fit 34 inch bust. Brushing is easy if you have a teazle brush (can get them on ebay!) but you must use pure wool to get the right effect.

Greenock 417: Great vintage ladies cardigan knitting pattern from 1940s. This pretty cardigan has panels of design and a high V neck with decorative button band. To fit 34 inch bust. Knitted in double knitting wool, which was a bit thicker than modern double knitting, so work at tension square and try modern Aran or a thick double knitting wool that knits to an Aran tension.

Greenock B421: Great vintage ladies twin set knitting pattern from 1940s. This pattern has a pretty cardigan with super deep rib and tulip design at front, with deep V. Knitted in vintage 2ply that should be similar to modern 3ply, always work a tension square. To fit 32-33 inch bust. To make larger you can use a modern 4ply and adjust needles to get good tension, but you will need to allow about half again the amount of extra yarn. There is a short sleeved jumper to match, see below, included in this pattern.

Homecraft 452: Great vintage CROCHET pattern 1940s hat belt beaded. This little set is great for evenings, weddings and other special occasions. Crocheted in Cronit rayon, no thread size given, but the rayon was a perle or shiny synthetic cotton, so trial by working a sample would be best as there is not tension suggestions either. The sequin and bead trimming can be omitted as they are added after paces have been worked.

Jester 1023L: Great vintage young ladies jumper duo from 1940s. I love these Jester patterns, wish I had more for you. This one for the two jumper shown below. The embroidered one is to fit 30-32 inch bust and is knitted in a 4ply. If you don’t embroider, you could always use a pretty braid, this was another popular decoration during the war according to my late mother. The green on is in a cable and to fit 3031 inch bust again in a 4ply. Most 3plys during this time knitted to our modern 4ply.
