vintage baby matine coats knitting pattern from 1940s Patons 617: Great vintage baby matinee jacket knitting pattern from 1940s. There are four different designs in this pattern to fit between 19-21 inch chest, all knitted in vintage 3ply. For a slightly smaller size use modern 3ply or for sizing as pattern use modern 4ply and a needle change. Always work a tension square. To fit from birth to 9 months.

Patons 725: Great vintage pram suit knitting pattern from the 1930s. This little pattern is for boys and girls pram sets, one with a double breasted coat and pull on hat, the other with a bonnet and full skirted coat. Leggings and bonnet complete the set. Knitted in vintage 4ply, so try a tension square with modern 4ply and baby double knitting and see which works better. To fit 20 inch chest, suggests for the first 6 months as knitted to be worn over other clothes.

Instructions for 3 Infants Capes, with or without hoods, knitted in vintage 3ply, try modern 4ply in a tension square.  These little capes a great for a chilly winter or spring Christening.  This 1930's pattern is quite rare, I try to get originals when I can.

Knitted in 3ply wool. Work tension square to see if you needed to change needles. Modern 4ply may get a better result.

Patons 825: Fabulous little vintage knitting pattern from late 1930s. This little pattern has instructions for plain little romper suit to fit 9-12 months or 20 inch chest  and the one below for 12-15 months (21 inch chest) with little buttons on bodice and the one on the front cover  that buttons up underneath with tie cord at waist for 6-9 months (19 inch chest). All knitted in vintage 4ply, so try tension square and change needles if needed.

Patons 828B: Great vintage baby matinee knitting pattern from 1940s. This pattern has two little jackets knitted in vintage 3ply to fit 19 and 20 inch chest. To knit to size try modern 4ply in a tension square, for smaller try modern 3ply for a new born.

Patons 835: Great vintage baby matinee jacket knitting pattern from the 1940s. This is the ever popular leaf yoke matinee, that has been re printed many times. This is an early version and is on its own. To fit17-19 inch chest, try modern 3ply for a small fit or modern 4ply for a larger size with more room. Always knit a tension square. Begun at the neck edge and knitted in one piece. I usually make this one in modern 3ply to fit a new born.

This is one of the popular matinee coats that later appeared in the books and collections of silver patterns by Patons in the 1950s and 1960s. This is an early version and is on its own. These little dress sets were knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and allow a little more yarn. To fit 18 months to 3 years, 19 inch chest for the top one and 2-3 years for the one at the bottom 20 inch chest. These little dresses are so easy to knit and you could put a lacy pattern on the skirt part if you wished, pretty puff sleeves and square neck line or a collar.

This little set is knitted in double knitting wool that was similar modern DK. The little double breasted coat has a small half belt at back and is to fit 25 inch chest, there are little leggings that fit over shoes and a little round hat To fit 16-24 month toddler. Always work a tension square.
