Patons 2551LH: Great vintage ladies hat, tippet and gloves set knitting pattern from 1930s. Knitted in an Astrakhan type of yarn or other fancy yarn that will give about 4 stitches to an inch on size 7 (4.5mm) needles. The gloves are knitted in a 4ply with the fancy yarn as cuffs. There are some interesting pictures on the back showing other patterns that were available at the time.

SS44-78-14cr: Great vintage crochet projects from 1944. There are instructions for a fashionable belt and a large bag. Use any colour you have available of knitting wool, this one advises to use pulled back wool or unpicked wool to save money and coupons for wool. The belt is backed by felt and the base of the bag felt covered cardboard or if available thick canvas or millinery leather. Easy and fun for work.

Called a halo hat and is knitted in a silky rayon thread perle no3, that would be similar to modern 4ply. Knitted on 2 needles and the use of a small amount of millinery wire is used. Round head 22 inches, scarf is 54 inches.

Weldons 97-11: Super cap and scarf knitting pattern from 1933. This set was originally worked in a rayon or art silk and wool mixed yarn and made in two contrasting shades. Probably with a 4ply tension. Work a small piece first and see how many stitches you knit to an inch to see if you need to make adjustments in needle size. Cap to fit 21 inches round head and scarf is 30.5 inches long and 6 inches wide at neck.

Scarf is 33 inches long, around the crown of hat is 22 inches. Use smaller or larger needles to alter size of hat and gloves. Bag will require a canvas base for stability or felt for a softer feel.
