Bairnswear 15: Great vintage toddlers rompers knitting pattern 1930's. There are instructions for rompers or crawlers to fit 12months -2 years. There are 6 designs including the one on the front.  Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square. There is one with a cat on the front, this one with the lamb, both with long sleeves, to fit 23 and 25 inch chest. There are also three to fit 22  inch chest, one with embroidery round the neck, one with a panel of fancy stitch and the other very simple sleeveless one, similar to a vest onsie now worn by babies. There is also another long sleeved one to fit a 23 inch chest. On the back page are some pictures of other patterns  that were available, several of which I have in my collection.

There are instructions for different sets some with embroidery on, in the form of a chicken, well and chickens, chicks on grass and chicken eating worm. To fit chest 18, 19, 22 inch chest. Worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square. Pattern in spine split so back and front are separate and small tear to front edge, but clean.

Bairnswear 47: Fantastic vintage knitting pattern for buster suits to fit boys 1-2 years. the little jumpers are great with little embroidered motifs, or lovely without, each design is different 2 with collars and two without. My brother wore these, so my Mother tells me in the 1940's The jumpers are knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply with a tension square. Jumpers are for 19" or 20" chest, easy to make a bit bigger by change of ply to double knitting. The little shorts or pants are knitted in vintage 3ply also or modern 4ply.

Bairnswear 63: Vintage knitting pattern for dear little romper suits for baby boys. These little garments are coming back into fashion, I can see why! Although I had little girls, many of my friends in the 1960's made these for their little boys and all my brothers through the late 1940's and 50's wore these, so practical and so much nicer than jeans or babygro. These are for 9-12 months, to fit 21" chest to 23" chest, to make smaller use modern 3ply and smaller needles, they look fabulous o reborn babies too.

Bairnswear 65: Vintage knitting pattern for boys first suit. This pattern is from the 1920's when this type of suit was so popular. The little jumpers are so sweet, chest 19" to 21" knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply or stick with modern 3ply if you would like the jumper or knickers to be a bit smaller. I have made the 2nd one down for one of my big vintage dolls, who is new born baby size, and it looks great in duck egg blue, also a popular colour of the time, I just used size smaller needles and modern 3ply.

This is a pre war little pattern for a classic button top romper with sleeves - not that different from the little onesies seen now. The vest has little sleeves and drawstring neck and the piltch or knickers have a simple crochet at legs - can be replaced with knitted rib or picot edge if liked.  to fit 19 inch chest 6-12 months. Romper is worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply or for a smaller size stay with modern 3ply. Vest set is in vintage 2ply which knits as modern 3ply.

bestway 1585 romper knitting pattern from 1930s Bestway 1585: Great vintage baby romper knitting pattern from 1940s. This little wartime pattern is so pretty. To fit 9-18 months knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed. If you prefer to knit with 3ply, then do the same - as this one falls between the two. Shamrocks are made in crochet, but knitted flowers can be used instead. Buttons at back of neck and between legs - suitable for boys and girls.

The dress and jacket at top will fit 2-3 years and is worked in a hemstitch stitch to fit 20-22 inch chest, the middle dress and jacket is knitted in berry stitch will fit 6-12 months with 20 inch chest and the little boys suit including socks will fit 1-2 years or 22 inch chest. The knickers are in the fashion of a sunsuit and knitted in 3ply yarn. Watch for the different needles needed for wool or nylon in this pattern. From the late 1940s there was  new nylonese yarn produced.

The simple stocking stitch with rib detail as shown on the front, another simple stocking stitch one with sewn on motif of dog, and a very nice fancy rib with off set front fastening so typical of the decade, see picture below.
