Weldons 39: Great vintage baby dress set knitting pattern from 1920s. This traditional little dress is to fit 6-12 months and is knitted in 4ply. The ribbed yoke gives a good free fitting and there is a little jacket to match. Work a tension square and try modern 3ply for a smaller size.

Weldons 84: Great selection of matinee jackets and coats to knit and crochet from 1930s This booklet has 9 patterns,  3 knitted and 6 crocheted. See below for the crochet ones and go to baby pages for the knitted ones. All so typical of the time, nice to work and lovely to wear.

The little set on the front with bonnet and matinee jacket is crochet in vintage 2ply, so try modern 3ply in a tension square, bonnet measures 14 inches round face. Jacket has a little collar and is fastened with a bow.

So sweet this little coat knitted in vintage 3ply with art silk, there are several silk and wool mixes on the market today, you will need a 4ply modern yarn for the size stated but you can use a 3ply yarn to get a smaller size. An ordinary 4ply wool will work, try alpaca or cashmere or that soft silky feel of old fashion comfort.  No chest measurement given but will probably be around the 20-22 inches.

So this little coat, so retro in style and yarn is bunny wool or angora and will knit to modern 4ply, again no chest size, but 27 inches around bottom edge, probably around 20-22 inch chest as was usual at this time to knit to fit first 12 months. Knitted in one piece to arm holes and has a lacy pattern border then plain stocking stitch. Always work a tension square. Try modern 4ply if you don't want to work with angora. Woolco 25: Dress Set: Great vintage knitting pattern from 1930s. This has long been on of my favourite patterns, it knits up beautifully with it's unusual pattern. To fit 18 inch chest, dress 16 inches in length, the coat is 20 inch chest and 9 inches in length. Knitted in a vintage 3ply that would work well in a modern4ply. always work a tension square and use modern 3ply for a smaller size. The dress as three small button on each shoulder to help with dressing.
