Bairnswear 720: Great vintage ladies dressing gown knitting pattern from 1940s. To fit 34-36 inch chest. Knitted in a vintage 2ply wool that is similar to modern 4ply. Always work a tension square. A moss stitch design. A fabric lining can be used with this pattern as well to give the garment stability.

E22-2970 Dressing Robe: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern fro 1940s for a dressing gown. This super robe is knitted in yarn that would be similar to a thick double knitting (tension of 9 sts to 2 inches on size 5mm needles) Always work a tension square.  Length  is 54 inches, obviously this is adjustable, bust 32-34. Original colour used was red.  There are 12 large buttons used on the one shown and shoulder pads are optional for an authentic look. Yarn listed in skeins so not sure if these would be 1oz or 2oz skeins, probably 1oz (30gms) looking at the amount for other dressing gowns, like MTE-DG below.

KB1-12: Great vintage knitting pattern for ladies striped dressing gown 1940s. Fabulous pattern for ladies full length dressing gown in two styles from same pattern, this one with two colours and wide sash either in velvet or satin. To fit bust 32-38 inches and length 54 inches. Knitted in vintage 3ply which is similar to modern 4ply, always work a tension square and change needles if needed. The purl side is the right side of this design - knitted in stocking stitch. The skirt and bodice are knitted separately and a petersham band helps give support to the skirt when attached to the bodice.

MTE-DG: Fabulous vintage knitting pattern for ladies dressing robe 1930s. The instructions are for size 32-34 and is knitted in thicker wool, so try Aran weight in a tension square as well as double knitting to see which works better, as there is no modern yarn like the KWIKNIT on the market now. Change needles to get the correct tension if needed. Nice simple style, but very retro. Tension is 3.5 stitches to an inch (5cm) on imperial size 3 or 6.5mm.

Penelope KK Sleeping Bag: Great vintage baby sleeping bag knitting pattern from 1940s. This handy fitted sleeping bag is very useful for keeping baby warm and can also be used as a dressing gown as baby begins to walk. To fit chest 22, 24 and 26 inches and length (adjustable) 28, 30 and 32 inches. if knitted as a dressing gown omit the last three inches and one button hole and the button holes along the bottom edge. Bestway 66-6: Great vintage knitting pattern for young girl's bed jacket from 1939. This one should fit a teenager, to fit up to a 32" chest. Knitted in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply, nice easy pattern, useful to keep the chill away at bedtime. Save on fuel!

Patons 924BJ: Bed jacket for 7-12 year old in the equivalent to 3ply.  Easy to knit and lovely to wear - cut down on heating and wrap up!! Bestway 149: Great vintage dressing gown knitting pattern for boys and girls 1930s. Easy to knit and super warm to wear for 6-8 years or up to a 27 inch chest. Knitted in a twisted rib with moss stitch border in modern 4ply wool. Always work a tension square. Can be worn with or without a cord. Shaping at waist gives this little dressing gown a neat shape. Great for film, stage or events for that really authentic period look.

Bestway 165: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for sleep-suit from 1930s. This all in one suit with zip it knitted in a vintage fleece wool that would be similar to modern double knitting wool - always work a tension square. Easy to knit and to replace zip with poppers or buttons ( knit a button and button hole band to fit). Shoulder to toe is 28 inches, adjustable.

Greenock R4: Great vintage knitting pattern for dressing gown 1930s. This dressing gown pattern is knitted in vintage 4ply, so try modern double knitting in a tension square and change needles if needed. To fit 2-4 years, 26 inch chest, 4-6 years 28 inch chest and 6-8 years and or a 30 inch chest. This is a nice period design with shaped collar.
