Patons 865: Great vintage ladies glove knitting pattern from 1940s.  This pattern has 4 designs two needles. There are 3 embroidered pairs and one with fair backs. Worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square.

This little silver pattern has instructions for 3 elegant pairs of ladies gloves, one with tight rib cuff, one with flared cuff and the other with pretty pleated cuff. All are knitted in vintage 2ply, so try modern 4ply - these look good with a suit or 1940s style coat. All knitted on 2 needles.

Pearsall's 380: Great vintage ladies glove and scarf knitting pattern 1940s. Both are worked on 2 needles and knitted in a silky Rayon, but wool can be used probably in modern 3ply, but try 4ply and see if this is easier to work with. Or try cotton No10 in a tension square.

There are instructions for cravat scarf, gauntlet style gloves on two needles no ply given, but a tweed type of wool was used. Stockings on 4 needles also in 4ply and rib socks in 4ply on 4 needles as well as a man's pair of socks. Great fun to knit for the Service Girls at the re-enactment gathering.

Weldon 355: Great vintage CROCHET and KNITTING summer glove pattern from the 1940s. This is super as there are two designs, the crochet one has pretty flowers at the wrists, delightful for a wedding and the plainer knitted ones could be worn with the going away suit! Worked in a vintage 3ply wool but could be knitted in white or cream cotton that is works to the same ply. Keep the yarn fine for the dainty look, worth having a go at these, they are so pretty.

Weldons 456: Great vintage crochet and knitting pattern ladies gloves 1940s. This fabulous wartime knitting and crochet pattern has two different designs. both are worked in vintage 3ply, so always work a tension square for each one and change needles or hook if needed. You may find that modern 4ply works better and is of course easier to get hold of in adult colours. Over all length for both is 8.75 inches - but this adjustable and cross the back of hand above thumb division is 3 inches, which is pretty standard for the time, a larger size hook or needle will give a bit more freedom if your hands are a little on the plump side (like mine!)

This lovely pair of lacy gloves, suitable for weddings, garden parties and evenings they are knitted and trimmed with crochet in white, black or any pastel colour or vivid colour for evening. The edging is in crochet but the main part is knitted in cotton crepe, try no 20 cotton and a tension square and work up or down from that to see which gives the size needed.

A classic design for ladies gloves knitted in vintage 3ply so try a fine modern 4ply similar to Patons fine merino. Both knitted on two needles, working on fine needles give a solid warm fabric.
