vintage todler sun suits and swim wear from 1930s and 1940s

Bairnswear 132sw: Great vintage sun suit knitting pattern for toddlers from late 1930s to early 1940s. This pattern has four sets, two with jackets. Knitted in swimwear wool which is no longer available, but try modern 4ply in a tension square and knit to a tight tension.. Charts for the embroidered motifs. To fit 2-3 years or 19, 20 and 22 inch chest.

Copleys 527 Sun Suit: Great vintage knitting pattern for toddler's sun suit from 1940s. This lovely pattern has instructions for a strapped suit and little jacket with buttons at neck. Worked in a vintage 3ply, the waist of suit is 18 inches and the chest for the jacket is 22 inches. 18 months to 24 months. Always work a tension square.

Weldons 94-9bsw: Great vintage baby sun suit or swim suit from 1935. This delightful little striped suit has a square front as seen in the sketch on the right and is knitted in a firm 4ply wool or yarn to fit shoulder to lower edge 17 inches, but this is adjustable. This is called a sea and sun suit. Suitable for a toddler around 2 years old. Always work a tension square.

Back and front is alike and easy to knit in stocking stitch with extended legs and wide shoulder straps. To fit girls 10-12 years old. Typical of the era well in to the 1940s.

Weldons 94-12sw: Great vintage easy to knit swim suit for boy or girl from 1935. This design is knitted with back and front alike. with out a skirt for boy and with a skirt for girl. To fit 26 inch chest, but will stretch. Try 4ply for this one. This style was popular throughout the next ten years so would be suitable for wartime re-enactment beach parties. Two small buttons on left shoulder. Always work tension square.
