Pearsall's Audrey: Great vintage knitting pattern for silk dress for little girl 1930s. This Pattern is to fit 3-4 years, 24 inch chest and knitted in a silk or cotton yarn that would be similar to a 3ply. There are instructions how to handle silk yarn as it can be difficult and the lustre can be damaged with over handling. A rayon or synthetic silk or lustre cotton of fine ply would work well too. Also try modern 3ply pure wool or silk mix. Always work a tension square and change needles if needed. Some lovely pictures of patterns that were available at the time are on the back page.

Templetons 231: Great baby vintage knitting pattern 1930s. There are instructions for the dress, 22 inch chest and matching cardigan 23 inch chest, little jersey for boy 23 inch chest, and a little cardigan 22 inch chest. Opalsheen was a baby wool made with rayon mixture that gave the yarn a subtle shine and would have knitted to a modern 4ply, but work a tension square first to check tension - 7st to 1", 8 rows to 1" on size 9 imperial needles (3.75mm).

This super retro cardigan is knitted in a simple pattern and has the classic double breasted styling. To fit 24-26 inch chest and 28-30 inch chest in 4ply. Weldons 509: Great vintage girl's jumper knitting pattern from the 1940s. This lovely button up cardigan pattern has nice cable panels and flower decoration down front panel. To fit 6-8 years or 27 inch chest. Knitted in vintage 3ply that would translate to modern 4ply, always work a tension square. Buttons rest on a crochet flower base which is sewn round button hole to create the flower when buttoned up. The original design had three green and two red alternately - instructions for making these included in pattern. Unusual pattern, very retro.

Weldons 526: Great vintage knitting pattern from the late 1930s for girl's jacket and skirt and little jumper with collar and lace zig-zag, design, to fit 3-4 years old  or 24" chest. The smocking is created with a rib that has a thread taken across the stitches to catch them together just like smocking.
