This one is for 2 pretty shawls worked in vintage 3ply, so try tension square and change needle size if needed, but keep in mind that for a light airy shawl the needles are larger than you would think they should be for the ply used. Both shawls are 44 inches square.

This super pattern has instructions for a snug pram rug 26.5 by 19.25 inches, a bonnet set with bootees and mittens and a shawl that measures 36 by39 inches. The wool used for this set is a 2ply quicker knit that would have been similar to modern double knitting. There is no tension given, but if you work a square you will see how many stitches you need to make the size stated.

Spider181: Great vintage baby shawl knitting pattern 1940s. Two great designs, the other one is below. This one is knitted in vintage 3ply, so modern4 ply will work better, but do work a tension square to make sure, it measures 64 inches square and is really beautiful -takes 13oz (about 400g) Don't forget to pin out the points when blocking this shawl. The other one below is 62 inches square and a bit simpler in design, but take the same amount of wool.

The cover can be either cot or pram and measures 40x24 inches, make shorter for modern prams or cribs. The hot water bottle cover measures 10x9 inches. Both are knitted in double knitting wool - colour suggested are blue and white - but this can be your choice of course

It was originally knitted in baby wool of a ply similar to modern 4ply with Art Silk which was a type of silky rayon. There are no tension instructions in this pattern. All measurements are approx.

This one needs careful blocking and hand washing after use - always re-block after washing to keep shape. Looking for a challenge then this is fun. Weldon 120-3+5: Great vintage baby shawl knitting pattern from 1937. This design is nice and easy and has a crocheted edging, but any knitted edging can be worked and added instead if you don't crochet. Measures 54 inches square. Knitted in modern 4ply. The on the right is nice and easy with pretty embroidery that makes it so special and very retro. Measures 50 inches square and is knitted in vintage baby cashmere. Try Ebay for pure cashmere 3ply wool.

Measures 54 inches, worked in fine wool try modern 3ply. The one on the right is nice easy design to knit ridged pattern with simple open work border, measures 45 inches square. Knitted in wool that might be 4ply, there is no indication on ply. Try a tension square with modern 4ply and modern double knitting wool and change needles for which one you prefer to kit with - allow a bit extra wool if you choose a double knitting.

This little set is super and suitable for a Christening. The dress can be made longer and there are instructions for the coat and the shawl. To fit birth to 9 months. Dress 22 inch chest, length 16 inches or the longer version as long as you like - but don't forget to allow extra wool. SHAWL measures 44 inches square, the little head shawl 22 inches square. Dress buttons at shoulders with little pearl buttons.

Weldon A934: Great vintage pram cover knitting pattern 1940s. There is a lovely selection here, two in 3ply (modern 4ply) and 2 in double knitting, as always with vintage patterns it is essential to work a tension square. Top right is a loop stitch cover in vintage 3ply and measures 24x30 inches, top left block pattern in DK and measures 27x30.5 inches. Lower left flower patterned in two colours in vintage 3ply is 20x28 inches, the lower right is crochet in two sizes worked in DK and measures 16.5x22 or 24.5x35 inches.
